A "Kindergarten Orientation" session for parents is scheduled each summer
shortly before the school year begins. During semi-annual parent conferences, the PALM
student profiles are shared to give in-depth information on student progress. There will
be a regular class newsletter as well as opportunities for brief informal interchanges on
a daily basis. Daily logs will be maintained as needed.

Kindergarten Teacher
Teachers of young children must have certification for teaching in the elementary
grades with specialization in early childhood or a kindergarten endorsement. The unique
needs of young learners require a warm, sensitive, resourceful, experienced teacher who
continually adapts and energizes instruction, combining high expectations with effective
curriculum organization to address the different rates at which children learn. Young
students are very capable learners when experiences are multi-sensory, concrete, and
varied. Teachers participate in on-going professional development opportunities,
specifically designed for teachers of young children.
