Robins

Dear Families,

I am so pleased to welcome you and your child to the Robins Room! I look forward to learning about all of you as we move through the year.

To start, I’d like to tell you about myself as a teacher. While this is my first year at Child’s Day, I have had many years of experience working with, caring for, and educating children. I hold a Bachelor’s Degree in Early Childhood Education from the University of Hartford. I spent the past two years at a STEM Magnet school in Connecticut instructing struggling readers as well as participating in science and math periods in second and third grade. I’ve worked with all different ages, but I have always found the most enjoyment working with the younger ages. This opportunity is especially thrilling. I’ve been saying I wanted to be a teacher since I was in preschool myself.

I was drawn to Child’s Day based on their philosophy and their clear devotion to creating a comfortable and loving environment for all children to grow in. It is my goal to provide your child with daily opportunities to explore their world and strengthen their social, cognitive, and physical abilities. It is my hope to accomplish this by means of fun, exciting, and interesting activities. A safe, warm and loving atmosphere will be maintained throughout the day.

The following are a brief compilation of my classroom beliefs:

  •   Teacher-parent communication should be open and positive
  •   Consideration and respect should be shared between all parties
  •   Each child is to be viewed and cared for as an individual with endless potential
  •   Appreciation is given to the process, exploration, and creation of child’s work and not overly on the resulting product
  •   Encouragement of developing strong, health bodies through good nutrition, healthy routines, and physical play will be provided
  •   A learning environment encouraging self-expression, discovery, compassion, and appreciation will be maintained
  •   All efforts will be made to foster a love of learning, ability to make decisions, to solve problems, to think creatively, and to work independently as well as with others

I have no doubt this year will be a terrific adventure filled with excitement, growth and friendship. You are, and will continue to be, your child’s first and most important teacher. Please feel free to share with me any of your questions or comments. I look forward to working with your family this year!

Sincerely,

Hilary Schneider
