Dear Parents,

It is with great pleasure and excitement that I welcome you and your child to the Chicks
Room. This year promises to be one filled with growth and triumph!

In our classroom, each child will be encouraged to develop at their own individual rate
and attention will be given to individual needs. Common goals will be set for the class,
which will then be tailored to fit each child. A sense of trust between each child and
his/her primary caregiver will be fostered without generating an artificial dependence.

The Chicks Room will provide a safe and varied environment allowing the children to
explore and experience different activities and toys. There will be areas for fine motor
development, such as the activity board (different knobs, locks, etc.), books for language
development and soft, squishy, hard, bumpy, loud and quiet toys to encourage sensory
play. All of these areas promote cognitive development. Most importantly, the Chicks
Room will generate self-assured and happy children. They will have a sense of who they
are and that they matter.

While much of this will come from staff interactions and planned curriculum, an

important part of making this happen will be your continued involvement. Please plan to
be an integral part of our classroom. My team and I will be looking to each of you to
share wisdom, experiences, concerns, questions, appreciation, skills and anything else
that will help to make this the best year for your child and you.

I am eagerly awaiting the beginning of the new year. I anticipate that each day will hold
excitement, curiosity, discovery and happiness for your child!
