OFFICE MANAGER

Responsible for staffing the business office of the Center, supporting the management and teaching staff, and providing liaison with the community.  Reports to Center Director and owners.

Education and Experience Requirements

  • Education: High school diploma or GED (minimum). Child Development/Early Childhood education preferred.

    • Experience: Minimum 6 months in office environment and 6 months in child care center.

    • Ability to relate well to the public, in person and on the telephone.
    • Diplomatic, tactful, creative, discreet, flexible, resourceful, dependable, well-organized, friendly, emotionally mature and professional.
    • Able to work effectively with multiple supervisors, balance and prioritize multiple requests.
    • Capable and practiced in handling complex and/or multi-faceted tasks.
    • Effective office (clerical / secretarial), time management, and organizational skills.
    • Computer literate. Well-versed with Windows, word processing (preferably MS Word), spreadsheets (pref. Excel), desktop publishing, and database management.
    • Sensitive to the needs of young children and familiar with early childhood theory and practice.

    Principal Duties and Responsibilities

    • Answer telephones and intercoms, take messages, respond to inquiries, give directions to Center.
    • Provide comprehensive secretarial and clerical support to center staff and management.
    • Assist with bookkeeping, payroll, A/R and A/P processing.
    • Greet visitors, conduct Center tours as needed, provide basic information to visitors, callers.
    • Handle daily staff scheduling
    • Pre-screen job applicants.
     
    • Process maintenance requests.
    • Substitute for classroom and support staff as needed.
    • General assistance with children’s daily needs and routines.
    • Assist with sick or injured children as needed.
    • Assist in opening and/or closing of the facility at the beginning and/or ending of each day as needed.
    • Organize, publicize, and register staff for workshops, staff development.
    • Other tasks as requested
