An Introductory Letter from the Child's Day Kindergarten Teacher Dear Parents, I would love to have your child join my Kindergarten class and welcome this opportunity to introduce myself. I received a Master’s Degree in Education from Washington University in St. Louis with concentrations in Early Childhood Education and Literacy Acquisition. My B.A. degree is from Southwestern University in Georgetown where I graduated Summa Cum Laude with majors in psychology and music. I came to Child's Day in 1999 with seven years of teaching experience with children between the ages of two and six. For the previous three years, I taught pre-kindergarten classes in the Austin Independent School District. During my tenure with AISD, I served as the Pre-K Team Leader at Barbara Jordan Elementary and as the staff development committee chairperson. I was also asked to serve as a District trainer for PALM (Primary Assessment of Language Arts and Mathematics), and gained valuable knowledge as a member of the Austin Early Childhood Task Force. These experiences, coupled with my membership in NAEYC, have kept me abreast of the latest research developments in Early Childhood Education.
