An Introductory Letter from the Child's Day Kindergarten Teacher

Dear Parents,

I would love to have your child join my Kindergarten class and welcome this opportunity to introduce myself.

I received a Master’s Degree in Education from Washington University in St. Louis with concentrations in Early Childhood Education and Literacy Acquisition. My B.A. degree is from Southwestern University in Georgetown where I graduated Summa Cum Laude with majors in psychology and music.

I came to Child's Day in 1999 with seven years of teaching experience with children between the ages of two and six. For the previous three years, I taught pre-kindergarten classes in the Austin Independent School District.

During my tenure with AISD, I served as the Pre-K Team Leader at Barbara Jordan Elementary and as the staff development committee chairperson. I was also asked to serve as a District trainer for PALM (Primary Assessment of Language Arts and Mathematics), and gained valuable knowledge as a member of the Austin Early Childhood Task Force.

These experiences, coupled with my membership in NAEYC, have kept me abreast of the latest research developments in Early Childhood Education. I'm excited about putting my knowledge and expertise to work at Child's Day, and am looking forward to getting acquainted with you and your child.

Jennifer G.
